Solution for Injection
Veterinary Endectocide
Paramec 10 Solution for Injection is an odorless, clear, light-colored sterile solution containing 10 mg of Ivermectin (22,23-dihydro-avermectin B1a at least 80% and 22,23-dihydro-avermectin B1b at most 20%) in 1 ml.
Paramec 10 Solution for Injection is an endectocidal preparation used in the control of internal (nematodal) and external (scabies, lice, nocra etc.) parasites in cattle and sheep.
Ivermectin is a semi-synthetic derivative of avermectin obtained from the fermentation of Streptomyces avermitilis. It increases the secretion of GABA in the motoric ganglion synapses (nematodes) or neuromuscular endplates (Arthropods) of the parasites, keeping the chloride channels open, preventing the passage of the motoric nerve impulse, and paralyzing the parasites. However, it is very safe in mammals, as it cannot cross the blood-brain barrier and sufficiently pass to the GABAergic nerves in the central nervous system. It is absorbed from the injection site and reaches its highest plasma concentration within 12 hours. Its bioavailability is about 85% and it has a half-life of 8-13 days as a result of its late release. It is excreted 98% in stool, and 2% in urine and milk. Due to its long residual effect, it protects animals for 7-21 days.
Paramec 10 Solution for Injection is an endectocide product used in the control of internal and external parasites in cattle and sheep.
Gastro-intestinal Nematodes: Ostertagia spp., Ostertagia ostertagi (adults, larval stages, hypobiotic larvae) O.iyrate (adults L4 larvae), Haemonchus placei, Trichostrongylus axei, T.colubriformis, Cooperia sp, Bunastomum phlematosusbotatum adults), Strongyloides papillosus.
Lung Pinworms: Dictyocaulus viviparus, Dictyocaulus viviparus
Warbles: Hypoderma bovis, Hypoderma lineatum.
Scabies pathogens: Psoroptes communis bovis, Psoroptes communis ovis, Sarcoptes scabei bovis Chorioptes bovis.
Lice: Linognathus vituli, Haematophinus eurysternus
Paramec 10 Solution for Injection should be administered to cattle and sheep at 0.2 mg/kg body weight and only subcutaneously unless recommended otherwise by the veterinarian.
Practical Dose Chart:
Lamb | 10 - 25 kg body weight | 0.2 - 0.5 ml |
Sheep | 25 - 50 kg body weight | 0.5 - 1 ml |
Calf | 50 - 100 kg body weight | 1 - 2 ml |
Veal - Heifer | 100 - 250 kg body weight | 2 - 5 ml |
Cattle | 250 - 500 kg body weight | 5 - 10 ml |
In cases where more than 10 ml is required, the dose should be divided and administered to separate places. In order to ensure drug fluidity in cold climates and places, the drug bottle should be used after keeping it in hot water of 20˚C -25˚C for 3-5 minutes before injection.
In cases of Psoroptes ovis seen in sheep, a single treatment may not always be sufficient. In these cases, two injections 7 days apart are recommended. It is applied to the loose part of the skin in the armpit or armpit area in sheep, and to the loose part of the skin in the shoulder and neck region of cattle.
While using, asepsis and antisepsis should be followed, dry, sterile needle and syringe should be used. During the periods when the larvae of H bovis are in the medulla spinalis, parasitic and paraplegia take shape with the applications and the death of the larvae here. Applications performed during the periods when H. lineatum larvae are in the esophagus can cause salivation and secondary tympanies as a result of the death of the larvae and require appropriate intervention. Therefore, the nocra struggle should be done at the end of the nocra fly season.
Application against roundworms known as Screwworms or New World and Old World Flyworms that settle in open wounds and cause myiasis maintains its effect for 2 weeks. 3-4 applications to the animals that are newly released to the pasture at intervals of 4-5 weeks, and two applications to the animals that are taken to the barn stock, with an interval of 4 weeks, affect the yield of the animals positively.
It may cause temporary pain and swell at the injection site.
Use in Pregnancy: It is safe in pregnant women at recommended doses.
There is no information on the incompatibility of ivermectin with other drugs.
The tolerance limit of ivermectin is wide. Calves and lambs can tolerate up to 5 times, adult cattle and sheep can tolerate up to 10 times. Overdose results in mydriasis, depression, incoordination, tremor, inability to stand up, and central nervous system symptoms. There is no specific antidote.
Drug Residue Elimination Period: During the treatment and after the last drug application, cattle raised for meat should not be sent to slaughter until 35 days, and sheep until 42 days after. Not applicable to sheep and cattle producing milk for human consumption.
It should not be used during periods when Migrating Hypoderma bovis larvae are in the spinal canal. Nocra treatment should be done at the end of the fly season. It is not used intramuscularly oe intravenously.
Consult your veterinarian before use. Keep out of reach of children. Consult your veterinarian before use and in case of an unexpected effect. Do not buy or use products with damaged packaging.
Contact with the drug should be avoided, therefore it should be applied in gloves, smoking should be avoided while using the drug, contact with food should be avoided and food should not be consumed. Hands should be washed after application.
Shelf life is 2 years when stored at room temperature (15˚C-25˚C) protected from direct sunlight. The opened package should be consumed within 1 month after first use.
It should not be used in dogs, especially in Collie breed dogs, due to its lethal effect.
Since Ivermectin is toxic to fish and aquatic crustaceans, the bottles used are toxic to aquatic organisms. Therefore, it should not be thrown into water sources such as streams and lakes. Bottles should not be buried in the ground or thrown into the trash.
